EMT Certification & Training in Alabama

What levels of certification does Alabama offer?

Alabama currently offers the following:

  • Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
  • Advanced EMT (AEMT)
  • EMT Intermediate (EMT-I/85)
  • Paramedic (EMT-P)

 

Is there a charge to become EMT certified in Alabama?

Alabama does charge the following fees for EMT certification:

Initial -

    • $5 for a 1 year license
    • $10 fee for a 2 year license

Renewal -

    • $5 for a 1 year license
    • $10 fee for a 2 year license

Reinstatement -

    • $5 for a 1 year license
    • $10 fee for a 2 year license

Late Fee – $50 late fee + $10 license fee if postmarked after March 31 of expiration year.

 

Does Alabama recognize the NREMT Certification?

Alabama requires the NREMT.

 

I would like to become an EMT in Alabama.  How do I complete the requirements?

All applicants must have proof of National Registry Certification and a copy of your valid CPR card.
